Here are two pieces I recently completed titled "B.C." and "A.D."
I did these for a theme-based art zine that a church is putting out. They had an open call. Before and After were the only directives. You didn't have to be religious or anything to submit. At some point it'll be printed and distributed for free. The whole idea is for people to be able to tell the story of their lives through images, whatever they may be.
The images are auto-biographical, but I'll leave it up to people to interpret them or not. If they are any good they can speak for themselves.
I had done a piece similar to the "B.C." one last year, but could never show it because it was concept art for TV show promotion material, so I took this opportunity to play more with the aesthetic of that piece, but then create the second piece in a distinct but related style.
The leaves on the tree are wingdings and clipart and were not designed by me. As were the birdies and clouds. I would have liked to do those myself, but I only had a few days to do this, so I reached for what I had.
These were rendered in Lightwave at 2200x3600 and post processed in Photoshop. Additional elements were made in Illustrator.
