This image shows a modeling and the later composite of a model I did of the ship Poseidon. This image is for the DVD box.
The story behind it is that there of course exist amazingly detailed models of the ship already completed for the movie, but production had wrapped and the files weren't within easy reach for re-positioning and re-rendering. So instead, the agency (Artmachine) came to me and asked if I could completely re-create the Poseidon for them for the purpose of the DVD. In the modeling I used reference stills from the ship in the movie, which were never isometric and always had lens distortion, so it was a bit of a pain to get the proportions right. I'm sure the original creators of the ship would recognise inconsistencies, but other than that, it ended up looking pretty good. I did not do the final composite/painting, the talented guys at Artmachine handled that.
